Jean RICHARD had already filed and obtained patents in Luxembourg in earlier years. [2]

On 7 April 1880 he filed his fourth patent application for a brevet d'importation under the title of: 

Nouveau système de ventilation à lames mobiles

The patent was granted soon after, on 21 July 1880, under the new Patent Law that entered into force on 1 July 1880. [3][4]

[4] It is interesting to note that RICHARD was no longer living in Luxembourg and that he had to use an address for service in a Luxembourg hotel to avoid having to appoint a local representative.
