114a - Victor ZIEGLER VON ZIEGLECK (1846 - 1916) [1]

‍ Peter Christian Viktor ZIEGLER VON ZIEGLECK auf RHEINGRUB was born in Luxembourg Eich as one of the many children of Christian Jakob ZIEGLER von ZIEGELECK auf RHEINGRUB, géomètre in Luxembourg. The latter was married twice and had a total of 13 children.

Victor ZIEGLER DE ZIEGLECK was a Professor at the Handwerkerschule in Luxembourg and lived in Kayl; he never married. 

On 28 November 1869 he wrote to the Directeur général de l’Intérieur:

Le soussigné a l'honneur de vous exposer qu'il vient d'inventer un nouvel instrument de précision (niveau à bulle d'air à poids régulateur) devant servir à niveler, et à vous en soumettre ci-joint le plan. 

Comme la mise en exécution de son invention, qui est purement scientifique, exige de nombreux essais dont résulteront des frais notables, dans lesquels il espère rentrer en partie du moins par l'exploitation de son invention même, il vient solliciter de votre bienveillance et de votre justice un brevet d'invention pour 10 ans.

The Directeur général opened an administrative file under the title of:

Nouvel instrument de précision (niveau à bulle d’air à poids régulateur)

and replied with a standard letter outlining the formalities that had to be fulfilled for proceeding with a patent application: 1°, 2° 3°, … 

and returned the documents submitted.

ZIEGLER VON ZIEGLECK did not react.
