M. GREISCH, fabricant in Esch s/Sûre, witnessed a novel pump being operated in Eschdorf and he was so impressed by the performance of the pump that he encouraged the importer of the pump Jean HERTGES, fabricant de pompes in Wilwerwiltz, to apply for a brevet d’importation.
GREISCH forwarded the application to the Ministre d’Etat, using the best version of his French:
Sous les plis, je prend la libertée de vous adresser une demande en obtention d'un brévet d'importation pour un nouveau système de pompe.
J'ai vu fonctionner à Eschdorff une de la pompe ou le demandeur en a monté une chez un sieur Vinandy. Cette pompe fonctionne à merveille. C'est un nouveau système elle donne l'eau abbondament et fassilement au moyen de chaîne. Je crois qu'il mérite d'être bréveté.
The Government, through the Commissaire de District of Diekirch, requested that HERTGES comply with the formalities of the Patent Law by providing the required documents.
HERTGES did not reply and the file was closed.
